Ragauskas Honored by Royal Society of Chemistry with Environment Prize

Art Ragauskas.University of Tennessee-Oak Ridge National Laboratory Governor’s Chair Professor for Biorefining Art Ragauskas is a well-known figure in the world of alternative fuels, with several accolades to his name.

Now, he’s added perhaps his most notable recognition to date, as the United Kingdom’s Royal Society of Chemistry has chosen him for its 2022 Environment Prize for his role in the development and refinement of plant-based fuels. He was selected by the Royal Society of Chemistry for this year’s honor based on factors including the originality and impact of his research, the quality of related aspects of his work such as publications, and his professionalism and collaborative spirit.

In addition to his roles in UT’s Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and at ORNL, Ragauskas also serves in the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture’s Center for Renewable Carbon.
