The Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development (ORIED) is hosting Virtual SPARKS: The ‘Space’ Between Aerospace and Biomedical Engineering on Tuesday, October 18th from 12:00 – 2:00pm ET / 11:00am – 1:00pm CT.
Launched in 2017, SPARKS (Seeking Partnerships to Advance Research, Knowledge, and Science) events bring UT faculty from multiple disciplines together around a common theme to learn and network. Attendees will leave with a better sense of UT-wide expertise and capacity in research relevant to aerospace and biomedical engineering, along with contact information for both speakers and attendees, and, hopefully, some inspiration to reach out and initiate a new collaboration with someone.
The event will begin with a keynote address by Daniel Millman, Chief Technology Officer at Stratolaunch. Following the keynote address, the event will present a series of lightning talks by the following UT, UTIA, and UTSI faculty:
- Ragini Acharya, Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering; UTSI
- Jared Porter, Kinesiology, Recreation and Sports Studies, UT
- Paul Palies, Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering, UTSI
- Philip Kreth, Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering; UTSI
- Kellie Walters, Plant Sciences, UTIA
- Qixin Zhong, Food Science, UTIA
- Madhu Dhar, Large Animal Clinical Science, UTIA
- David Anderson, Veterinary Medicine, UTIA
- Nicole Labbe, Center for Renewable Carbon, UTIA
- Ken Langley, Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering, UTSI
- Art Ragauskas, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, UT
- Lino Costa, Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering, UTSI
- Ben Blalock, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; UT
- Tom Berg, Industrial Systems Engineering/Nursing, UT
If you are interested in attending, please register here by Wednesday, October 12th to receive a Zoom link for the event.
