Research Development Academy Now Accepting Applications

Applications are now being accepted for the 2024-2025 Research Development Academy (RDA), a program that supports the professional development of tenure-track faculty from historically under-represented backgrounds, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, sex, gender, and LGBTQ+ populations, who have the potential to contribute to the university’s discovery mission and advance UT’s values of diversity and inclusion. The program is open to tenure-track faculty who have yet to be considered for tenure.

RDA is a collaborative, year-long program, provided by the Office of the Provost, the Division of Access & Engagement, and the Office of Research, Innovation & Economic Development. The program offers support for faculty research, scholarship and creative activities through one-on-one and group coaching and mentoring, community-building opportunities, personal and professional development, engagement with campus leaders, and participation in the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity’s Faculty Success Program. This is the fifth year of the program and participants are also invited to join the alumni network for community programming after their participation in RDA concludes.

Learn more about the program components, eligibility requirements and the application process on the RDA website. Applications are due on January 31, 2024.

Questions about the program or the application process should be submitted to Faculty Affairs (vpfacultyaffairs@utk.edu), Javiette Samuel, associate vice chancellor for access and engagement (jsamuel@utk.edu) or Diane Kelly, vice provost for faculty affairs (dianek@utk.edu).
