Pam Bishop became director of the National Institute for STEM Evaluation and Research (NISER) in 2016. She and her team provide high quality, responsive external evaluation services to the STEM research and education sector. In her current position, Bishop focuses on developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, both within and outside of UT. She works collaboratively with these stakeholders to negotiate work and develop proposals for external funding of the center. As associate director for STEM evaluation at the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis (NIMBioS), Bishop evaluates interdisciplinary scientific research groups, K-16 and graduate-level interdisciplinary educational programs, and outreach events aimed at promoting teaching, learning, and research at the intersection of mathematics and biology. All of her work at NISER revolves around the improvement of STEM education and workforce development initiatives, with a particular focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
