NSF Mandates Use of SciENcv for Proposal Biographical Sketches, Current and Pending (Other) Support Documents

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has announced that SciENcv will be the only accepted format for biographical sketch and current and pending (other) support documents for new proposals submitted or due on or after October 23, 2023.

Currently, proposers may prepare these documents using either SciENcv or NSF fillable PDFs. NSF fillable PDfs will no longer be accepted after October 20, 2023. Anyone not already using SciENcv should start converting their biographical sketch and current and pending (other) support forms soon.

Key Dates:

  • Final NSF fillable PDF Upload Date: October 20, 2023, at 5:00 PM (submitter’s local time)
  • Exclusive Use of SciENcv: October 23, 2023

SciENcv offers multiple benefits, including tailored biographical sketches, easy ORCID account linking for precise publication selection, and streamlined updates for projects. This change aligns with NSF’s commitment to modernizing and improving the proposal submission process.

For detailed guidance, refer to the Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide Chapters II.D.2.h.(i). and II.D.2.h.(ii), as well as the NSF biographical sketch and current and pending (other) support pages.

SciENcv has also compiled documentation to assist researchers including videos and a step-by-step tutorial on their website.
