Find funding

To support your research, scholarship, or creative work, Research Development can identify federal, state, foundation, and nonprofit opportunities aligned with your idea. Innovation Partnerships and Economic Development can connect you with industry sponsors, and the Office of Global Research can help you find international opportunities.

Develop your proposal

Research Development works with you to conceptualize and craft competitive proposals, from single researcher projects to center-scale opportunities. Services include proposal consultation, review, and editing as well as project management, budget development assistance, and help finding potential collaborators and complementary resources here at UT. Innovation Partnerships and Economic Development can connect you with community and industry partners to expand the reach and impact of your idea. Research Integrity, Assurance, and Security can help ensure training, disclosure, and other requirements are met before proposals are submitted.

Submit your proposal

The Division of Research Administration reviews, approves, and submits proposals on behalf of the university. Our staff works closely with you and your department and college support staff to ensure that all proposals comply with sponsor requirements.

Negotiate and set up your award

The Division of Research Administration reviews, negotiates, and accepts grants, contracts, and agreements on the university’s behalf and sets up the accounts you need to access your funds. Our colleagues at the UT Foundation can help you accept financial gifts to support your research program.

Conduct your work with integrity

The Research Integrity, Assurance and Security team, along with many partners across campus, work together to create a strong culture of research integrity by providing training and support to help researchers navigate the use of human participants and animal subjects in research, compliance with export control and controlled or restricted research regulations, research of misconduct allegations, and management of conflicts of interest and commitment. Environmental Health and Safety ensure every laboratory has access to resources to safely conduct research.

Protect your ideas

The Innovation Partnerships and Economic Development team and the UT Research Foundation help academic innovators and creators protect ideas that were developed with resources from UT and other sponsoring organizations. They manage invention disclosures, file patent applications, and guide the commercialization process.

Manage and close out your award

The Division of Research Administration provides financial and administrative management and closeout of sponsored projects, helping you meet your commitment to your sponsor and ensuring that UT is a good steward of external funding. They work closely with researchers and support staff. The Division of Research Administration ensures financial compliance and proper accounting of externally sponsored funds, managing account setup, financial reporting, award closeouts, cash management, audits, and reviews.

Share your results

Our Research Communications team can help publicize faculty work, sharing the story of research, scholarship, and creative activities through a variety of UT outlets including articles, newsletters, listservs, and social media. Our partners at the UT Libraries also offer resources to help evaluate the quality of journals and open access journals for scholarly publications.
