Opportunities at every stage of innovation
1. R&D
Concept generation and development, training and education of faculty by ORIED in collaboration with UTRF.
2. Invention
Faculty and researchers engage in innovative research activity. Pre-disclosure discussion takes place as most innovation is still in its nascent phase.
3. Evaluation
Researchers file invention disclosures for commercial viability. If grant funding reaches its cliff, work may cycle back to R&D.
4. IP protection
If commercial potential is identified, UTRF will pursue a patent application following a thorough assessment.
5. Licensing
Once a patent application is filed, UTRF pursues commercial partners for licensing agreements or other forms of alliances, also known as tech transfer.
6. Commercialization
Product development, job creation, and economic growth. Financial returns and public use reinvest back into R&D, completing the cycle.
Partnerships make the difference
By collaborating with leaders in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, we drive discovery and improve lives at the pace and scale the world needs.
