Infectious Diseases and Host Response

This Community of Scholars uses interdisciplinary approaches to study the mechanisms of infectious disease in various hosts, including how pathogens affect molecular and cellular targets within the organisms they infect and how that promotes colonization, pathology, immune stimulation, and/or transmission. The goal of the CoS is to pursue a variety of approaches to elucidate mechanisms of pathogenesis, including methods within the fields of molecular microbiology, eukaryotic cell biology, immunology, and genomics. The CoS works to discover new ways that limit the burden of infectious diseases or inflammation within various hosts, including humans, livestock, and plants. Another goal of the CoS is to collaborate on proposals for external funding from NIH and the USDA.
