2020-2021 One UT Collaboration and Innovation Grants: Call for Submissions
The University of Tennessee System has announced a call for submissions for the One UT Collaboration and Innovation Grant program. The program—open to faculty and staff at all campuses, institutes and extension/field offices—aims to foster collaboration and innovation in three key areas—student success, research, and outreach and engagement—across units, campuses and institutes. The UT System will invest up to $500,000 in each of the three categories, up to $1.5 million total. Each proposal may be awarded up to $50,000.
An information session will be held via Zoom on Thursday, December 12, at 11 a.m.

Research Development Insights Help Acquire Funding for Critical Research Tool
Research into targeted medical therapies is underway at the University of Tennessee to help fight pathological states like cancer, ischemia, and inflammation. One approach is based on the unique characteristics of diseased cells involving acidosis, or too much acid. In 2017, Fran Barrera, assistant professor of biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, received a grant from the National Institutes of Health to explore this condition.
