UT Libraries has hired a data curation librarian to help researchers formulate the data management plans now required by funding agencies like the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
The new post has been filled by Chris Eaker, who joined the UT Libraries faculty on July 1, 2013. Eaker will assist researchers with developing and implementing data management plans for sponsored programs and will be available to serve on grant teams that need to make data curation a part of their proposals.
He is familiar with existing data repositories that serve the various academic disciplines and can help faculty discover relevant existing data sets. He will also help make UT researchers’ own data more widely available for use by other researchers.
