As you may already know, the United States government is facing a partial shutdown this weekend. In September, Congress passed and President Trump signed a spending bill that will fund 75 percent of government agencies through September 2019. However, several agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, are at risk of running out of funds.
The Office of Research and Engagement has been closely following the situation. As of Friday morning, December 21, President Trump has stated that he will not sign a proposed stopgap spending bill that would fund the affected agencies through February 8. The previous spending bill funds the government through 11:59 p.m. today (December 21).
