SARIF Funding Resumes
After pausing most Scholarly Activity and Research Incentive Funds (SARIF) funds over the summer, the Office of Research and Engagement has officially resumed normal operations for SARIF, albeit on a revised schedule.
As a reminder, tenured and tenure-track faculty with a primary appointment at UT Knoxville, UT Institute of Agriculture, or UT Space Institute are eligible to apply for SARIF. Additional eligibility criteria may apply; please review specific criteria in each SARIF opportunity.
Most SARIF Funding Paused Through August
Given today’s fiscal uncertainties, UT Knoxville’s Scholarly Activity and Research Incentive Funds (SARIF) will be paused through August 2020. SARIF provides support for research and creative activities via 10 separate funds and award programs. For now, the SARIF program will not be accepting new applications for FY20 or FY21; however, commitments that have already been made will be honored. Continue reading
Review Panels Critical to Proposal Process
Peer review panels, composed of faculty that mirror the disciplines in an applicant pool, are key to the research enterprise at UT. Dozens of funding opportunities require an internal review process, including limited submission competitions, UT’s internal research seed programs, and red team reviews specifically for large and complex proposals.
Kimberly Eck, assistant vice chancellor of research development in the Office of Research and Engagement, encourages faculty to participate when asked to serve as a reviewer. “The process is beneficial to both the applicants and the reviewers, who have a chance to see what makes a strong proposal from an objective perspective.” Continue reading
Annual Call for Proposals: SARIF Equipment and Infrastructure Fund
The University of Tennessee, Knoxville Office of Research and Engagement (ORE) has opened applications for the FY20 Scholarly Activity and Research Incentive Fund (SARIF) Equipment and Infrastructure Fund. This award aims to enhance UT’s research mission by providing support for the acquisition of state-of-the-art or innovative equipment that will advance the research mission of the university or for the repair, replacement, or upgrade of critical research infrastructure.
Proposals must be submitted online using the InfoReady system no later than Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at noon.
