Federal Opportunities
Please contact Paul Montgomery (paul.montgomery@utk.edu) regarding your interest in federal opportunities.
DoD recently published the attached solicitation entitled Defense Enterprise Science Initiative. DESI is a new program that supports use-inspired basic research performed by university-industry teams in order to accelerate the impact of knowledge on key defense challenges and on DoD acquisition programs.
DESI is seeking proposals on the following 4 specific topics:
- Power Beaming
- Hihly-maneuverable autonomous UAV
- Soft Active Composites with Intrinsic Sensing, Actuation, and Control
- Metamaterial-based Antennas
The proposal deadline is 28 Feb 2018. DoD anticipates making 4 awards of $750K annually for a period of 2 years, with an option for a third year of additional funding. Note that each proposal must include at least 1 university and 1 industry member, and the university partner must receive at least 50% of requested funding. Also note that not every topic above will necessarily be granted an award.
