Spring 2016 RCR Lunch & Learn Series

The Office of Research Integrity continues its Responsible Conduct of Research Lunch & Learn Series in the spring semester with six new sessions covering various aspects of research integrity.

The sessions will be held in Hodges Library Auditorium. Pizza will be provided to registered participants beginning at 11:30 a.m. outside the auditorium.

Each session in the RCR Lunch & Learn series is recorded and archived for those unable to attend. To access the archive, log in with your UT NetID and password.

Jan. 29: Human Subjects and the IRB 
Participants will gain a broader understanding of the resources and support mechanisms that are available from the Faculty Development Team and the Library. Resources that will be shared will include information related to identifying funding sources, meeting sponsor requirements, proposal review and editing, overcoming copyright issues, the development and dissemination of research works (e.g. Publication practices), and author rights. | Archive

Feb. 5: Faculty and Library Resources
Participants will gain a broader understanding of the resources and support mechanisms that are available from the Faculty Development Team and the Library. Feb. 19: Research Animals and their Care/Oversight
Participants will gain a broader understanding of the institutional animal care and use committee standards and guidelines. The discussion will highlight areas of enhancement for the submission and review process, best practices for animal housing and transport, and a formal overview of the post approval monitoring program. | Archive

Mar. 11: Laboratory Safety
Participants will gain a comprehensive overview of laboratory safety at UT Knoxville, including areas related to biological, radiological, and chemical hazards. The panel of experts will also highlight national efforts and recommendations for improving the culture of laboratory safety on academic campuses, including the potential program enhancements at UT Knoxville. | Register

Apr. 15: Collaborative Science
Participants will gain understanding into the science of team science, including the conceptual advantages and obstacles of collaboration. Concepts such as interdisciplinary, cross disciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary discovery will be discussed. The field of team science is emerging, including and assessment related to it’s implications for researchers and universities. | Register

Apr. 22: RCR Series Highlights and Wrap Up
Participants will gain first hand information about the current successes and next steps of enhancing our culture of integrity and excellence. The audience will learn about initiatives to detect and improve awareness about plagiarism, research integrity and safety program updates, and ongoing national trends related to responsible conduct of research. | Register
