The Office of Research & Engagement (ORE) is launching a new format for the Quarterly Research Report. Concurrently, this is my first quarter as the new Associate Vice Chancellor for Research Development. It is truly a pleasure to be at the University of Tennessee as we take on the challenge of becoming a Top 25 research university. I am delighted to have visited so many of the centers, schools, and departments in the ORE orientation sessions this fall and to have met many of the faculty, staff, and students.
I am extremely excited about the opportunities here, and it is a great honor to serve the research community, providing stewardship of our internal funding resources, and helping to secure external funding and recognition for the terrific ongoing research and scholarship. There are many “wins” to celebrate, and several of them are listed in the attached report.
We hope you like the new Quarterly Research Report format and layout, and the reimagined and informative way that our research data are presented. I invite your feedback on the Quarterly Research Report or anything else that you would like to discuss involving the Office of Research & Engagement, your research concerns and interests, and aspirations you may have for future research activities at UT.
Janet E. Nelson
