Manager, Research Development
Sharon Sweetser Pound has worked in the University of Tennessee’s Office of Research and Engagement since 2009. She began her work as an editor for the Proposal Development Team, supporting PIs with proposal development. As a member of the Research Development Team, she now focuses on large, multi-million-dollar proposals. In addition to editing documents and managing graphics, she facilitates team development, faculty collaborations, and early identification of funding opportunities. She is currently working on a special research initiative related to Team Science. Pound is an active member of the National Organization of Research Development Professionals and volunteers her time on community projects associated with the Optimist Club of Knoxville and the Angel Tree. Prior to joining the University, she spent 27 years in marketing communications, including 12 years as a freelance writer and public relations/marketing consultant. Pound received her bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Tennessee.
