Hallerin Hilton Hill Interviews AI Expert Lynne Parker

Lynne Parker, associate vice chancellor and director of the new AI Tennessee Initiative at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, interviewed with Hallerin Hilton Hill on September 8 on the Hallerin Hilton Hill Show on News Talk 98.7, WOKI-FM. The interview is part of a series Hill is producing with a focus on the impactful research being conducted across UT and the faculty behind the work.

Parker speaks about the relevance of artificial intelligence (AI) in society and the initiative she is leading now that she’s returned to UT from the White House. Parker discusses AI’s role as a critical tool that can create and understand patterns within data to help inform predictions for the benefit of humans and society.

In 2015 and 2016, while working at the Natural Science Foundation, Parker was tasked by the White House to create the very first national AI strategic plan. Her strategy covered topics such as infrastructure, education and workforce, regulations, and international partnerships.

Listen to the episode with Parker and tune in to Hallerin’s live show weekdays from 3 to 7 p.m.
