The Department of Microbiology, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, and Office of Research and Engagement are sponsoring an online workshop on Wednesday, September 9 from 2:15 p.m.-4 p.m. to help students prepare National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP) applications.
The NSF GRFP recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees. As the oldest graduate fellowship of its kind, GRFP has a history of selecting recipients who achieve high levels of success academically and professionally.
Since 1952, NSF has funded close to 50,000 Graduate Research Fellowships out of more than 500,000 applicants. Currently, forty-two Fellows have gone on to become Nobel laureates, and more than 450 have become members of the National Academy of Sciences.
The five-year fellowship includes three years of financial support, including an annual stipend of $34,000 and a cost of education allowance of $12,000 to the institution. Register here to attend a virtual workshop that features advice from past awardees on writing a competitive application.
Last year, eight UT students were selected to be a part of the 2020 NSF GRFP.
