Office of Research Announces Faculty Fellows Opportunities

Two Faculty Fellow opportunities are now available to a tenured faculty member to work within the Office of Research and Engagement (ORE) for the 2018/2019 academic year in the Compliance and Safety Division and the Science Alliance.

Compliance and Safety Division Faculty Fellow

The Compliance and Safety Division Limited Duration Appointment (LDA), in the form of a Faculty Fellow, is being created to provide leadership related to the Responsible Conduct of Research, Research Compliance, and Research Safety. These activities will be transitioned from Dr. Robert Nobles in his previous capacity as Associate Vice Chancellor for Research while he serves as the Interim Vice Chancellor for Research.

The Faculty Fellow will serve as part of the Senior Leadership of ORE and will provide leadership and assistance to administrators and researchers across campus. The fellow will also: 1) provide leadership in the development of policies and procedures related to responsible integrity; 2) develop, facilitate, and implement training procedures for responsible conduct of research; 3) serve as a liaison for the Campus Safety Committee, Laboratory Safety Committee, Animal Care Advisory Committee, Biosafety Committee, and Radiation Safety Committee, 4) serve as a liaison on initiatives related to counterintelligence and facility security; and 5) become the responsible party for the completion of the Research Guide (Handbook on conducting research) for campus.

Science Alliance Faculty Fellow

This Science Alliance Limited Duration Appointment (LDA), in the form of a Faculty Fellow, is being created to provide leadership related to the program management of the Science Alliance (SA). Science Alliance is a Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) Center of Excellence focused upon fostering a strong bond between the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

The Faculty Fellow will provide leadership and assistance to administrators and researchers in the oversight of current Science Alliance initiatives (Distinguished Scientist Program, Joint Directed Research & Development Grants, Graduate Student Support; Center and Institute Partnerships) as well as acting as a facilitator and catalyst for new collaborations between UT and ORNL. The Faculty Fellow will also help facilitate efforts

Details and Application Instructions

It is expected that the time commitment to the position will be up to 50% for the duration of the semester, including summer (time commitments are negotiable). Compensation will be negotiated and will take into consideration the additional pay requirements in the department and college wherein the fellow is located.
