On March 19 and 20, the Office of Research & Engagement (ORE) hosted a two-day workshop, partially funded by NSF, for the Digital Index of North American Archaeology (DINAA). Attending were approximately 35 archaeologists from across the US from various universities, US Department of the Interior, the Florida Department of State, TVA, Iowa Office of the State Archaeologist, and other agencies.
Robert Nobles, ORE assistant vice chancellor for the responsible conduct of research and research integrity officer, gave the opening comments and welcome to the workshop.
The DINAA workshop was, in part, an effort to bring together all archaeological research across the US. The states are currently required to maintain this information but there is little to no communication among the states.
