The Institute for Nuclear Studies, a UTK organized research unit, is supporting a small number of seed grants for the 2013-2014 fiscal year. The objective of the grants is to increase and diversify the number of UT faculty leading proposal development efforts in nuclear security. The institute is seeking to broaden its interdisciplinary reach to academic units that have not typically worked with INS in the past.
Seed grants are to fund the growth of high-quality and meaningful research output in nuclear security, specifically by fostering new proposals and broadening the participation of faculty in the institute. The principle metric of success is a net increase in externally funded research.
