Three of the UT researchers were recognized for their performance across fields beyond their primary disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-thumbnail is-style-rounded\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/research.utk.edu\/iamm\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2023\/01\/Deborah-Crawford-150x150.png\" alt=\"Deborah Crawford.\" class=\"wp-image-858\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Deb Crawford<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe accomplishments of these renowned faculty members demonstrate the high quality of UT\u2019s research enterprise and our pervasive impact on the global science and engineering community,\u201d said Deb Crawford, vice chancellor for research, innovation and economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each year, Clarivate compiles a list of influential science and engineering researchers with multiple publications that have been highly cited, either in their principal field or across multiple fields. Individuals are identified from publications that rank in the top 1 percent by citations for a field (or fields) and publication year in the Web of Science citation index.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IAMM affiliated researchers recognized in 2021 are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>David Mandrus<\/strong>, the Jerry and Kay Henry Endowed Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, whose work focuses on growth, discovery, and materials physics of new electronic and magnetic materials. Mandrus was also among the 2020 honorees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Stephen Pennycook,&nbsp;<\/strong>adjunct professor of materials science and engineering, whose primary research interest is the study of materials through the use of Z-contrast scanning transmission electron microscopy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Arthur Ragauskas<\/strong>, professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering and UT\u2013Oak Ridge National Laboratory Governor\u2019s Chair for Biorefining, whose research focuses on understanding and exploiting innovative sustainable bioresources.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sheng Dai<\/strong>, professor of chemistry at UT and scientist at ORNL, whose work centers around the synthesis and characterization of functional materials for energy-related applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Easo George<\/strong>, UT\u2013ORNL Governor\u2019s Chair for Advanced Alloy Theory and Development and a scientist at ORNL, whose research areas include high-entropy alloys, environmental effects of microstructure and mechanical properties, and the use of precious metals for space power applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jiaqiang Yan<\/strong>, associate professor of materials science and engineering at UT and scientist at ORNL, whose research focuses on the design, growth, and characterization of novel materials with unusual electrical, magnetic, or thermal properties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Around 6,600 researchers were selected for the 2021 list based on their citation rankings between 2010 and 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Six IAMM faculty members are included on the 2021 list of highly cited researchers from Clarivate, ranking them in the top 1 percent of researchers in their field.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":44,"featured_media":1298,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"inline_featured_image":false,"_genesis_hide_title":false,"_genesis_hide_breadcrumbs":false,"_genesis_hide_singular_image":false,"_genesis_hide_footer_widgets":false,"_genesis_custom_body_class":"","_genesis_custom_post_class":"","_genesis_layout":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-855","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-news","8":"entry"},"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>IAMM Faculty Affiliates in 2021 Most Cited Researchers Report - Institute for Advanced Materials &amp;
