Governor’s Chair for Environmental Biotechnology<\/h3>\n

Terry Hazen is an environmental biologist specializing in bioremediation and bioenergy.<\/p>\n

Hazen’s research focuses on how naturally occurring bacteria can sometimes break down and detoxify hazardous materials. He is also working with a team of researchers who have developed a method of using bacteria to help test for the presence of a wide array of pollutants.<\/p>\n

Hazen holds a joint appointment with the Tickle College of Engineering’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the College of Arts and Sciences’ Departments of Microbiology as well as Earth and Planetary Sciences.<\/p>\n
