Commission for Women Awards Nominations are Open

The Commission for Women requests nominations for the Angie Warren Perkins Award and the Notable UT Woman Award. The Perkins award named for the first Dean of Women at the University, will honor a woman who has made outstanding contributions to university governance or administration at the level of department head, director, or below. The Notable UT Woman Award will recognize a staff member from the Knoxville campus.

Completed nomination letters and a current CV or resume of the candidate should be submitted by email to Mary E. Papke (papke@utk.edu). Nomination letters should include the name of the nominator, department, e-mail address, and phone number. Nominations for the Perkins award should also include Nomination letters should include the Name of the Nominee, Nominee’s Responsible Department, Nominee’s Position Title, Nominee’s Appointment Date, and the Nominating Statement.
Deadline: Nominations must be received by January 30, 2015.

Call for Papers: Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA)

The 2015 Chemical and Biological Defense Science and Technology (CBD S&T) Conference has been rescheduled and has re-opened its call for papers and has added new topics. A description of each topic and instructions for submitting a 500-word abstract may be found here. PIs with selected abstracts will have an opportunity to give either an oral or poster presentation, and ORE may be able to provide some travel support to help these PIs attend the conference. The Conference is particularly interested in innovations and developments yet to be introduced to the defense community.

Deadline: Abstract submission deadline is 4 February 2015.

Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) Open funding opportunities for Research projects
Under Horizon 2020, FET Open continues its mission to support early-stage joint science and technology research around new ideas for radically new future technologies. FET Open covers now ALL technological areas.

United States Army Medical Research Materiel Command Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs

The Fiscal Year 2015 (FY15) Defense Appropriations Act provides research funding for the peer reviewed programs managed by the Department of Defense (DOD) office of Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP).

Innovation Corps – Regional Node Program (I-Corps Node)
Through this initiative, NSF seeks to develop and nurture a national innovation ecosystem that builds upon fundamental research to guide the output of scientific discoveries closer to the development of technologies, products and processes that benefit society. I-Corps Regional Nodes must contribute to the National Innovation Network in the following three ways:

  • Level 1 Contribution – I-Corps Regional Training
  • Level 2 Contribution – I-Corps Node Regional Infrastructure
  • Level 3 Contribution – I-Corps Node Blue Sky Research

Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) in Engineering and Computer Science Supplements and Sites

The Directorate for Engineering (ENG) and the Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE), have joined to support the Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) in Engineering and Computer Science program. This program supports active long-term collaborative partnerships between K-12 Science, Technology, Engineering, Computer and Information Science, and Mathematics (STEM) teachers and community college and university faculty and students to bring knowledge of engineering or computer and information science and engineering as well as technological innovation to pre-college/community college classrooms.

Promoting Internationally Recognized Labor Rights in the Dominican Republic

The Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) announces a Request for Proposals (RFP) from organizations interested in submitting proposals for a program to strengthen the ability of agricultural workers and their organizations in the sugar sector in the Dominican Republic to organize, advocate for workers’ rights, and effectively engage with the government in support of these rights.
