Former energy secretary to deliver Wigner talk

Former U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu will deliver a lecture on “The Energy and Climate Challenge: Necessity as the Mother of Invention” as part of Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Wigner Distinguished Lecture Series on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at 10 a.m. The talk will take place at ORNL in Oak Ridge and will be webcast live to the Baker Center auditorium on UT’s campus.

Chu won the Nobel Prize in physics in 1997 for developing ways to cool and trap atoms using lasers. He served as secretary of energy in the first administration of President Barack Obama. His research interests include biophysics, biomedicine, energy, and energy economics.
