Federal government shut down Oct. 1

The U.S. Government began a partial shutdown at 12:01 a.m. October 1, 2013, when the House and Senate failed to agree on Fiscal Year 2014 budget appropriations. A number of federal agencies shut down part or all of their normal operations because funding has not been authorized. See our Federal R&D Budget Outlook page for a continuing roundup of shutdown information.
