Gabor J. Tigyi, chair of the Department of Physiology at the UT Health Science Center, will present “Lysophosphatidic acid regulation of cancer metastasis via the tumor microenvironment” at the Cancer Community of Scholars Symposium Thursday, February 25 at the UT Medical Center.
Tigyi’s research is aimed at elucidating the structure and function as well as the signal transduction mechanism of a family of endogenous phospholipids with growth factor-like properties. Dr. Tigyi has shown that serum contains a set of lipid factors that are the major source of mitogenic stimuli present in serum. Dr. Tigyi’s group has made pioneering contributions to the current understanding of the pharmacology of phospholipid growth factors.
The Symposium will be held in Morrison’s Auditorium at the UT Medical Center from 2–6 p.m. If you have questions or are interested in attending, please RSVP to Kristen Vandergriff (email@example.com).
