Presented by representatives from NIH policy, program, review, and grant administration offices, the NIH Regional Seminar covers a range of topics, including the application and review process, applicable federal regulations and policies, and current areas of special interest or concern at NIH. Interaction between attendees and NIH representatives is encouraged, so the seminar is an excellent opportunity to network with review staff and program officers.
For the past two years, the Office of Research and Engagement has organized a group of UT faculty to attend. The 2017 seminar will be held May 4-5 in New Orleans, Louisiana. ORE will coordinate faculty participation in this event, including planning sessions for attendees prior to departure and additional networking opportunities during the seminar. In addition, ORE will offer financial support to defray travel expenses for 50% of the estimated travel costs.
Each Knoxville campus college is invited to nominate two participants to attend the seminar. Nominations are due by February 28. If you are interested in this event, please inform your college’s nominating official. The UT Institute of Agriculture, UT Chattanooga, and the UT Graduate School of Medicine have also expressed the intent to sponsor their faculty to attend the event.
Contact Jennifer Webster (firstname.lastname@example.org) for details including information about the event, nominating officials, and eligibility criteria for participating faculty.
