Safety Alert: High Pressure Safety

In response to an incident involving a high pressure system, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering conducted a daylong training exercise in high pressure safety.  During this training, numerous processes were observed and suggestions for adding additional layers of safety were made by an expert from Los Alamos National Lab.

In order to share the importance of this topic with the larger research community, this safety alert has been generated.  Please post this in relevant areas and assess the need for the addition of restrictive orifices and pressure relief valves in the safety manifolds of your compressed gas cylinder installations.
