About Coeus
Coeus is an electronic research administration system originally developed at MIT to assist their Office of Sponsored Programs in proposal development, pre and post award management. It is continually being developed in an attempt to become the most comprehensive "cradle to grave" award management tool.
The decision to implement Coeus at the University of Tennessee occurred in the fall of 2000. Since that time, staff at the Knoxville, Memphis, and UT Space Institute campuses have been working to develop the modules which compose the central administration of the software and allow it to function as UT’s grants and contracts database. A production prototype came up for use in April of 2001, and various administrative reports are now available.
Coeus Development Team
The Coeus Development Team will work with administrators, faculty, and staff of these units to devise a local implementation strategy, and with staff of the Office of Research to bring up another part of the central administrative package, the module which controls IRB (human subjects). Below is a list of the development team members:

Coeus Steering Committee
The Coeus Steering Committee will provide campus level direction for the project. It will set the overall strategy, set priorities, control the timing of the departmental deployment, advise on training needs and methods, and ensure coordination with other campus entities.
