Research Coordinator

Salary DOE&Q - Full Time -This position is responsible for advising and assisting faculty and staff in preparation of applications for external funding including budget development, budget revision, solicitation interpretation, and other aspects of proposal preparation; ensuring compliance with University and sponsor policies and program announcements; managing sponsored programs post-award (non-accounting) activities including agency negotiation; and preparing and presenting workshops on sponsored programs activities

Bachelor’s degree is required. A minimum of two years experience working in a professional office environment and proficiency with Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Internet searches is required. Candidate must also possess proven written and verbal communication skills; strong problem-solving skills; excellent interpersonal skills for working individually or in a team environment under stressful and time-sensitive conditions; independent decision making abilities; a high level of initiative; orientation to detail; and strong skills in organization, prioritization and reasoning/logic.

Preferred experience includes: demonstrated ability to develop and/or provide assistance with proposal budgets to University project directors/principal investigators; a minimum of two years experience in proposal, contract and/or grant review and approval; evidence of extensive and intensive experience in working with faculty and other researchers in an academic or laboratory setting and with sponsoring agency personnel; a thorough knowledge of University policies procedures and federal regulations; UT experience; and experience working with large databases.

Assistant Director - Sponsored Programs

Pay Grade 44, - Salary DOE&Q - Full Time -The Assistant Director (post award/non-accounting) will directly supervise five (5) full-time employees. The candidate will review, negotiate and administer contracts and grants. Candidate will assist and advise faculty, researchers and staff with award administration and have knowledge of proposal submissions. Candidate will thoroughly and critically review awards to ensure adherence to the University's mission and policies, state and federal laws and regulations, and sponsor guidelines.

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of significant demonstrated experience in contract management and supervisory experience is required. Candidate must have knowledge of federal regulations (e.g. OMB circulars Federal Acquisition Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations, etc.) and experience with the grant and contract policies of major federal, state and/or nonprofit agencies. Extensive experience in negotiating and administering various types of contracts, awards, grants and other types of agreements with commercial, international, federal, state, local and non-profit organizations is required; must also possess knowledge of regulatory compliances.

Candidate must possess an excellent command of the English language including excellent reading comprehension and the ability to craft appropriate contractual language. Candidate must be proficient using Microsoft Office tools. Candidate must be able to manage competing priorities and meet time-sensitive deadlines. Candidate must have strong organizational, management and analytical skills, including the ability to extrapolate information across a broad base of programs. Candidate must have strong customer service skills; strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with others at various levels both within and outside the University

Preferred qualifications include: Proficiency in using sponsor-specific online systems, IRIS (University's implementation of SAP business software), and other University data systems; knowledge of generally accepted budgeting and accounting principles; experience in conducting training classes and/or one-on-one training for faculty and staff; and current or previous employment at a university desired.
